Welcome to Authentic Christmas where we bring Christ back into the center of the Season.
Let the LORD be high and lifted up for an . . .
So to make her day special (rather than just melt into the other activities of Advent and Christmas) we chose that day as the special time to decorate our tree. This commemoration of her birthday on the same day was very meaningful to her. Even now as a 40-year-old woman, she still decorates her Christmas tree on her birthday. Family traditions are meaningful and fun.
Another tradition, which I still follow today, is to read daily Scriptures to help me focus on the coming birth of the Son of God.
Advent is the time to patiently wait for the birth of Christ. The season starts on November 30th, which is four Sundays before Christmas.
During this time leading up to December 25th, think about the centuries that God's chosen people waited for the coming of the Messiah.
Think about Mary and Joseph as they waited for the birth of their son.
Their waiting period was also a time of preparation. You too can prepare for Christmas during Advent keeping the birth of Jesus at the center of your thoughts and activities.
The Christmas Tree is always a centerpiece of the home during Christmas. Advent is the time to purchase, decorate and start enjoying your tree.
My daughter's birthday is on December 16th, just nine days before Christmas.
Advent starts on Sunday, November 28th.

Advent marks the New Year and lasts until Christmas Eve. Then we move into the Christmas Season, which lasts for 12 days (which is the origin of the popular song, The 12 Days of Christmas.
Finally, we come to Epiphany on January 6th, which commemorates the spreading of the Good News into the world.
